Finding Suitable Employees

Every company wants satisfied, motivated employees. But how do companies find employees who work in a team, have innovative ideas and think outside the box? And how can they attract and retain these professionals?

What usually happens at a job interview?

The aim here is to find out whether the applicant is not only technically qualified, but also fits the company and the position. The personality and attitude of the applicant play a decisive role here. Executives look for employees who not only bring the right skills, but also have a positive attitude and the right personality to be successful in the company. Technical skills can usually be trained, while personality and attitude are usually innate or shaped by experience and are more difficult to change.

Therefore, for most executives, personality is the most important factor when choosing an applicant.

What personal and professional qualities are we talking about?

Focus

Employees are often assigned several tasks at the same time. A top employee is able to decide which task is most important and needs to be done immediately. They concentrate on the essentials and manage their time and energy efficiently.

Result-oriented way of working

Outstanding employees set clear goals and work result-oriented in order to successfully complete projects in a short time. They show top performances that are often not taken for granted.

Active and never satisfied

They are always looking for optimization potential and question structures and ways of thinking. Top employees are active and constantly looking for opportunities for improvement, are never completely satisfied and always interested in further training.

Diplomatic but still courageous

Top employees have a feel for critical issues and dare to address them. They are diplomatic but courageous and have the courage to ask questions, including for others. Discreetly address critical issues so as not to upset management.

Self-motivation

On the contrary, when colleagues express doubts, their ambition is awakened to reach their performance limits and surpass themselves.

Flexibility

A top employee has a high degree of flexibility and is able to adapt to changing working conditions without loss of their own productivity. This also includes a high level of adaptability.

It is important to remember that every applicant has different strengths and weaknesses and it comes down to what skills and traits best suit the position and the company as a whole. A person who may not have all the qualities of a top employee can still be a valuable and successful addition to the team.

Two questions, one answer:

Is it possible to clarify all requirements through application documents and interviews?

Can you ensure that neither the employer nor the employee will be disappointed during the probationary period?

The answer is simple: No!

How it works

Using a Working Style Analysis (WSA) can help you find new hires that are a good fit for your organization's work culture and needs. Here are some steps on how to integrate the WSA tool into your recruitment process:

  1. Choosing the right tool:
The WSA Combo for managers and employees is a suitable analysis tool that fits the needs of your organization and the advertised position. There are many different psychological tools on the market that use different approaches and methods to evaluate prospects, but only one tool - the WSA provides comprehensive insights into biological human working styles.
  2. Integration into the application process: Integrate the Working Style Analysis (WSA) into your application process by asking applicants to fill out the online questionnaire to assess their working style preferences.
  3. Evaluation and comparison: Evaluation of the results of the applicants' Working Style Analysis (WSA) in order to compare their working style preferences with the requirements of the advertised position and the work culture of your organization. Ensure that the use of WSA results is ethical and in accordance with applicable data protection regulations.
  4. Interview Questions: Use the results of the Working Style Analysis (WSA) as a basis for interview questions. Ask questions that address candidates' working style preferences and patterns to get a better understanding of how well they fit into the work culture and the needs of the vacant job.
  5. Alignment with other selection criteria: Consider the WSA results as part of the applicant's overall picture, along with other selection criteria such as qualifications, experience, skills and cultural fit. The candidate's working style preferences should not be the only criterion considered when making a hiring decision, but should be viewed as complementing other relevant factors.
  6. Clarify expectations: The Working Style Analysis (WSA) can also be used as a tool to help selected candidates better understand their individual working style during the onboarding process and induction phase into the organization. In doing so, the WSA results promote an understanding of their individual working style, support the development of their overall potential and flexibility in order to optimally adapt them to the work requirements.

It is important to note that the use of WSA results during the recruitment process entails certain legal and ethical considerations. It is also important to ensure that the use of such tools is in accordance with applicable data protection laws and ethical standards, and that applicants are adequately informed of the purpose and use of Working Style Analysis (WSA).

If you want above-average results, you need above-average commitment!

by Barbara Prashnig

Results are always consequences of actions

It may seem obvious that outcomes are the result of actions, but it's a truth that so many people seem to miss and it leaves them frustrated and unfulfilled. It could be disappointing and frustrating when it comes to how we view our life journey, knowing/assuming that we cannot live according to our desires and passions, and therefore cannot be our true selves. Or it could be frustrations in everyday life, the little things that get on our nerves and bother us. Frustration doesn't go away on its own, it's not something that can simply be wished away. It takes action. It always takes action. If our present results are consequences of previous actions (and deep down we know this to be true), then we also know that in order to change results, we must first change our thoughts and only then can we change our actions. So the key question is, why aren't we doing this?

Research has shown that 90 to 95 per cent of what people think each day is the same as the day before and is repeated the next day. This may come as a surprise, but it is the sad reality. And people are caught up in their circular thought processes. Let's take the popular phrase "I can't" that is a constant companion in many people's minds. So, if you want to create a new constructive thought pattern, then you can interrupt your usual tendency to fall back into accustomed patterns by simply wearing a rubber band around your wrist for the next few days. Every time your old (negative) thoughts cross your mind, snap the rubber band as a reminder to stop the old ways of thinking and superimpose them with new, positive thoughts.

Pattern disruption and new thought patterns

This simple technique serves as a nice pattern break to catapult yourself out of these thoughts. Every time you see it, feel it, you are reminded with a little pain that you forgot again. Then after a while you can create a new thought pattern that is helpful and not harmful. You might say to yourself, "I'm fine, and I can do it!" This will strengthen your positive attitude. Every time you notice your rubber band, you become aware of what you were thinking about and evaluate your thoughts with this technique.

Fear and entitlement

The reasons for inaction can be summed up in these two words: fear and entitlement. The feeling of entitlement is an uneasiness that has spread over the years, and the rise of social media makes it even easier to fall back into whining and ranting. Whining that it is up to so-and-so to do so-and-so that we need it, or have a right to it, has become very fashionable. Legal claims without responsibility - that is today's motto. And if something doesn't work, it's always the others' fault! The idea of working hard and striving to achieve something, to improve one's life, seems to have become almost indecent words.

When it comes to the fear, it could be fear of failure, fear of reactions from those around us, fear of change, fears that we won't be good enough, or - yes you guessed it - fear of taking action to take action! Combine those fears with inertia and a sense of legal entitlement, and you end up taking actions that only cover the essentials - if anything. If you only take actions that only cover the essentials, what results do you get? Elementary results - if any!

Above-average actions create above-average results

If you want to achieve better results, above average results, then look to others who have already achieved these results and it won't be long before you spot a pattern in their above average actions. They study harder. They worked harder. They make more sacrifices. They get more involved. In short, they act above average. There are exceptions, of course. There are always exceptions. But the fact that they're just exceptions proves even more that for most people, above-average results require above-average action.

Now look at your own results. For example, you may not want to drive hundreds of miles just to take some photos, or work extremely hard to achieve a career goal, or put in extra effort to achieve a desired result - but what do you WANT? Do you have something that is above average but expect it to be somehow possible without putting in the above average effort? If so, then you can expect to continue experiencing disappointment and frustration.

Decision and commitment

But it doesn't have to be that way, it's up to you and you alone. It doesn't matter what kind of learner you are - more analytical, detail-oriented or more holistic, with the big picture as seen in the Learning Style Analysis (LSA), or what working style you have as the Working Style Analysis (WSA) reveals. The result will show whether you are more multi-task oriented or more single-task focused. These style preferences are not crucially important because everyone can set goals and has enough skills, enough potential, enough flexibility to achieve their goals - if they are prepared to put enough effort into whatever they want to achieve.

As you engage, make decisions, and act to outperform your plans, you will begin to achieve improved results - both in personal life and at work. Step by step you will reach your goal and keep striving for new goals.

Believe me, such a change can fundamentally transform your life and lead to something great!
